Basic Brushstrokes

	Comma Stroke Load brush To load brush, press into edge of paint, while pulling away.  Turn brush over and repeat to load other side of brush.
	Hold brush straight up and down Hold brush straight up and down and press down on chisel edge.
	Move brush in the shape of a comma Start moving brush in the shape of an elongated comma, releasing pressure as you continue the stroke.
	Complete the stroke Pull brush to complete the stroke, and lift up to release pressure.
	"S" Stroke Load Brush Load brush with paint. Holding brush straight up and down, press chisel edge to fabric.
	Begin making an "S" shape Begin making an "S" shape, flattening the brush and pressing down in the middle part of the stroke.
	Slowly release pressure Slowly release pressure toward the end of the stroke so only the chisel edge remains on fabric.
	Liner work Load brush with paint Drag brush through paint to load.
	Touch brush tip to fabric Holding brush straight up and down, touch tip of brush to fabric and pull immediately toward yourself.
	Curly-Q To make a curly-Q, make a randomly curving line, pressing down on brush as you pull away from yourself.
	Complete the stroke Release pressure, pulling brush upward to complete the stroke.
	Stippling Load brush with paint To load brush, very lightly tap tips of bristles into paint. Punce onto fabric.
	Continue pouncing Continue pouncing, adding paint as needed to spread color.
	Shade Shade by tipping bristles into darker color paint on palette and pouncing a second layer
