Texturizing Technique

Apply basecoat

Apply the base coat OS Opaque Acrylic color (we used OS 481 Cinnamon).
Texturizing Technique

Create textured color

To create the textured color, mix the acrylic color with baby powder (50% color to 50% baby powder) to create a thick paste.

Spread mixture on piece

Spread the mixture on the frame with a palette knife. Let dry.

Antique piece

Antique the textured frame with a TS Translucent Stain to accentuate the textured surface (the deeper color stays in the crevices for natural shading). We used TS 564 Brown.

Wipe back

Wipe back stain with cloth or paper towel.

Highlight raised area

Highlight the raised areas of the texture by drybrushing with lighter colors. We used OS 440 Burnt Orange.

Highlight with another color

Highlight the raised areas of the texture by drybrushing with lighter colors. In this step we used OS 442 Oriental Flesh.
Texturizing Technique

Seal piece

Spray seal to protect the frame (we used SS 334 Porcelain Sealer for a soft, natural finish).
